Sustainability

Not just for today or tomorrow but for the long-term

We can all do something, no matter how small

WHY IT MATTERS

People are increasingly aware that sustainability matters in all its forms. We can all do something, no matter how small, to increase sustainability in our gardens and outdoor spaces alike.

From recycling plastic pots and plastic compost bags, the compost we choose to the plants we source, every decision in the garden is an opportunity to reduce our environmental impact and support the natural world around us.

KEY PRINCIPLES

RAINWATER HARVESTING

Sustainable rainwater collection lowers the demand for treated water and helps manage stormwater run-off, lowering risks of flooding and providing a sustainable source of water for irrigation, flushing toilets and laundry.

PEAT FREE COMPOST

Look for the ‘Peat Free’ labelled compost approved by the Soil Association which is an eco-friendly alternative growing medium. Choosing ‘peat free’ protects fragile peat bogs which are essential for biodiversity and importantly act as long-term carbon sinks.

ORGANIC LIQUID PLANT FEED

Sustainable organic liquid feed is a natural, nutrient-rich plant food sourced from organic materials. Look for Soil Association Approved and animal free products. Unlike harsh chemical fertilisers, these natural alternatives don't damage soil structure and support the growth of beneficial microorganisms.
